The beautiful Ryelands estate would make the perfect venue for a photoshoot or filming location.  Located in Carkeel near Saltash, Cornwall, Ryelands is bursting with open space and overlooking the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was recently refurbished to an extremely high standard.  This unique setting is a wonderful escape from the busy outside world and is located less than 30 minutes from Plymouth and within easy reach of Devon and Cornwall. Situated to the south of the Tamar Valley and looking out over its stunning scenery, Ryelands dates back to the 1920s.

Ryelands Welcomes the ‘Cornwall Reports’ Team

Last month, Ryelands were proud to host the 'Cornwall Reports' team to our newly refurbished Bed & Breakfast! It was great to see what goes on 'behind the scenes' when recording a local news bulletin, and to meet the presenter, Graham Smith.  If you missed the video on Facebook, here's another chance to see Ryelands on screen!

Cornwall on the Box

Cornwall’s famous coastline has been spotted in many British TV dramas and films, and we are fortunate to be well located for you to be able to visit a large majority of them!

The 1996 historical drama 'Poldark' was filmed in a number of locations around Cornwall, as was the later TV series, which was set mostly around the Helston area. The popular BBC drama 'Jonathan Creek', starring Alan Davies and Caroline Quentin, was filmed at Rinsey Head, which is located off the main A394 road between Helston and Penzance.

'Hornblower', the series based on C. S. Forester's ten fictional Napoleonic war era novels about a Royal Navy Officer, Horatio Hornblower, featured extensive scenes at Falmouth and St Mawes, both about one and a half hours south west of Ryelands.  Love the series? Why not pay a visit to Pendennis Castle, an imposing fortress built by Henry VIII, which was also used as a location for the series.

As far as TV dramas go, one of the most well-known series that was filmed in Cornwall is the much loved 'Doc Martin'. Starring Martin Clunes, the show is set in the fictional seaside village of Portwenn, and filmed on location in Port Issac, with most interior scenes shot in a converted local barn at Roscarrock Manor Farm.

Also partly filmed in Port Issac was the welsh detective drama series Hinterland, which came to Cornwall in 2015, and also visited Polzeath, a small seaside resort on the headland opposite Padstow.

Most recently, our very own Tamar Valley featured in the Sky 1 show 'Delicious', featuring Dawn French, which was filmed on location at Pentillie Castle in the Tamar Valley!

Love your Cornish television dramas? Come to Ryelands and enjoy the beautiful scenery that you have enjoyed 'on the box' in real life! We can't wait to see you.
